Gosh another busy month gone and we are now almost three quarters of the way through the year. Time to start thinking about getting your wood and kindling stocked up for those cosy winter months. (And you thought I was going to say the C word, hahaha). We have kindly been supplied by George Potbury Forestry Ltd they are fairly local and decent price as well as being legally compliant with the logs they sell. Check out their website at www.georgepotburyforestry.co.uk or give them a call on 01403 782369.
Another good turn out last week for the Village Luncheon. Remember this happens the first Thursday of the month, for our over 70’s. They can contact either Pat Morgan from the Evergreens or Sally Wyborn with Capel assist. Contact details are in the Capel Magazine that gets delivered to every residence in Capel.
This week we have Dine ‘n’ Bingo at the village hall Tuesday the 12th. Doors open about 7pm for eyes down at 7.30pm. Any raffle prizes are always welcome. Good fun evening for £10, and helping raise money for local causes. On Thursday the 14th we have our monthly Gin Club from 6.30pm. A chance to sample some nice craft gin and have a couple of gin cocktails while catching up with what’s been going on. If you’d like to stay for the 2 course dinner then let us know. This month we have prawn cocktail starter and main is a choice of meat or vegetarian quiche with a garden salad. Gin club is £10 and 2 course dinner is £13. Then Saturday the 16th we have Open Mic from 7.30pm, back after the very successful bank holiday music weekend. Here’s hoping for another fine night so we can enjoy the garden again. Tuesday the 19th will be our quiz night this month. We have brought it forward due to Vanda and I going on our holibobs, yay. Our quiz mistress Corinne will be on her holibobs (2nd Wedding anniversary) so I will be stepping in to take her place. £2 entry per person with teams of 4 people. Dinner starts at 6pm for a 2 course meal £13. Please let us know if you will join us for dinner before or just for the quiz.
A big thank you to all who attended the Bank Holiday music weekend. Over £900 was raised for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. Thanks again also to The BBC (British Bluescasting Corporation) for performing on the Sunday.
See you all over the month. Let’s hope we finally have a little bit of summer.
Vicki 🙂

Will The Crown be holding a Christmas dinner on the 25th this year for patrons. Hoping so as you would have 2/3 people who are definitely interested.
Thanks
Lindsay
Hi Lindsay,
We don’t do Christmas dinner on the 25th sorry as our staff are off for those couple of days to spend with their families. We do open for drinks from 11.30-2.30pm though. Our Christmas menu is available from Tuesday the 28th November until Friday the 22nd December.
Kind regards
Vicki
