Celebrating the Platinum Jubilee

Not long to go now and we will all be off for a long weekend to help celebrate Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth’s 70 year anniversary.
Our village has lots of things going on for everyone to get behind and make it a weekend to remember. Festivities start on Thursday 2nd June at the recreation ground 8pm. Hill house farms is supplying a hog roast and Dorking brewery are supplying some beer for us to toast the lighting of the beacon at 9.45pm Friday 3rd June there will be a childrens cricket match followed by Capel’s Got Talent at 8pm. Still time to enter if you would like, the more the merrier. Saturday we have Capel Mens cricket match during the day. At The Crown PH we have a live showing of the Derby from 1.30pm with a chance for all the ladies to dress up and put on their facinators and hats. Then on the evening there is a casino and live entertainment. Ticket price is £50 per person which includes a cocktail/Prosecco on arrival, a grazing platter with canapé starters, mains and dessert, chips for the casino and the entertainment. For those that just want the casino and entertainment it will be a £20 entry which includes casino chips and entertainment. Please book in advance if you would like the food option. On Sunday the picnic gets underway at 2pm in the recreation ground, with organised games and demonstrations from 2.30pm. If you would like a picnic hamper for this please order via The Crown by Tuesday 31st May. All picnic hampers supplied by Surrey Hills Cafe £17.50 pp with £5 from each sold going to charity. Festivities conclude at 5pm on the recreation ground and there is a wind down after event at The Crown.
Whew what a lot to do. We hope to see as many of the village out and taking part as possible.
